Courtyard Marriott Gettysburg

It was quiet, set away from the main highway, unlike the Hampton Inn. The Marriott franchise itself feels worn out and badly in need of an update. The TV wouldn't work properly, and I couldn't even turn the thing off. I was disappointed Marriott hasn't kept this property up to its usual standard.

I travel around Pennsylvania for work and usually enjoy Marriott stays. The rooms are normally nice and quiet, and the staff are often great. Gettysburg was a very different experience. As a member, I was first put in a poor room without a microwave for heating dinner, and then found the TV was broken after I had settled in. Maintenance came after I called the desk. I left my jewelry on the little counter near the entrance with my room keys. The next morning, one of my rings was gone. It was a silver ring with a sideways cross and diamonds inside the cross, a gift from my grandmother, who has since passed away. It was worth about $800. I called right away while driving to work, and was told someone would ask housekeeping and get back to me. Nobody ever did. I'm left without that ring. The service and staff were terrible.

The room was comfortable and nice, though the bed setup was annoying. It had no flat sheet, and the fitted one kept riding up because it wasn't put on properly at first. The shower curtain was too small too, so quite a bit of water ended up on the floor.

I was charged for two extra nights and another fee for supposedly leaving items behind, even though the belongings in question weren't mine. The hotel still had me listed in the first room, the one that already had other guests' things in it. When I called to explain, they said they would credit my account, but no one contacted me before charging my card. The whole stay felt unsettling from the start. They initially assigned me a room that was already occupied, so I had to go back to the front desk. They found another room, but apparently didn't update the room number in their system, which made me worry someone else could have been given a key to my room. The shower water was lukewarm at best. This hotel had been highly recommended, so I was very disappointed.
