Castaic Inn Near Six Flags Magic Mountain

The room looked recently renovated, and the bed and towels were especially neat and clean. I checked in late and had been a little concerned since the reviews were old and only average, but the room was a pleasant surprise.

We pulled in late while traveling with our service dog, since our arthritis and back problems made us need a place to rest. The room wasn't very clean: there was a dead roach on the floor, and the TV didn't work. The front desk wasn't much help with either problem. At checkout they kept our $50 deposit over a few dog hairs on the bed, and said the bed was wet, though it wasn't. The free coffee was nice, but we were very disappointed and wouldn't stay again.

I booked this room for the pool, but it was drained and had pallets in it. There wasn't anything to do in the area, either. The room smelled of smoke, and the vinyl plank flooring was badly broken along the main path, so you had to keep your shoes on to avoid hurting your feet. The AC barely worked during a heat wave with temperatures over 100 degrees. It took more than 4 hours to get the room anywhere near comfortable, and it never really cooled down. I'm someone who likes a warmer home, so I wasn't asking for an icebox, maybe 75 deg F, but it never got there. I considered leaving even though I knew I wouldn't get a refund. I was just so tired of driving, and could hear the LA traffic getting worse outside. Don't stay here.

There aren't enough parking spots for the rooms, so I had to wait 10 minutes after checking in for one to open up. Once we got into the room and started a shower, a roach the size of my big toe crawled out from under the waste basket. Don't stay here!
