The Pentagoet has stayed on my mind since we left, even after a long weekend exploring the Maine coast. Matt & George made us feel welcome as soon as we came through the door. The inn is gorgeous, with beautifully restored interiors and a lot of history, so it feels like a bit of the past with some real pampering. Matt's a terrific cook, too. We tried most of the evening menu, and every local comfort dish was delicious and had its own character. I'd love to come back.

We spent four days and three nights at the Pentagöet Inn in September for our anniversary, and it was such a lovely getaway. Room #7 on the third floor looked out over the bay. Each morning brought something different, from a beautiful sunrise to mist sitting quietly over the water. The room's decor fit the inn's nostalgic feel, as did the main floor spaces George has put together. Be sure to see the courtyard and the second floor library, too. Matt's cooking was a highlight, with wonderful food that accommodated our dietary restrictions. Tuesday evenings bring live jazz dining on the porch, which we really enjoyed. Thanks, Matt & George.

Matthew and George were so friendly and attentive, and their local tips really added to our trip. The inn itself mixes modern touches with vintage charm so well, and the food was incredible. We loved our time here and definitely have to come back.

We came for Jazz Night and the Oyster Shuck, and left feeling like we'd had a wonderfully balanced, relaxing vacation. The Mister Pub, named for the innkeeper's adorable miniature schnauzer, is a cozy, lively place with a real sense of community and amazing food. The clam chowder is a must. Our room was comfortable and full of character, with beautiful views over the harbor and village. Around the inn, Matt and George have created a welcoming, inclusive place that feels open and safe for everyone. There's real warmth and creativity in how they run it, and staying there feels like being with old friends. Their attention to detail makes the historic inn feel stylish without being stuffy. The staff shared that same spirit. Jana greeted us with a warm smile, Patricia made lovely food each day, and the rest of Team Pentagoet were kind and attentive. The whole place has a lot of heart. If you're visiting Castine, The Pentagoet makes for a meaningful, restful stay. We'll be back. Danny & Keith, Lancaster, Pennsylvania

We had a great stay. The lobster linguine is a must, and the food and decor both have a distinctive feel. The inn has loads of antiques, plus a baby grand piano. Matt & George and their staff put a lot of effort into making it a lovely New England inn experience.
