Timberland Inn & Suites

The rooms were clean, roomy, and comfortable, and the location worked perfectly for seeing Mt Saint Helens. They’re a bit dated, but I’d stay again without hesitation if I’m back in the area. One small tip: there’s a cute coffee shop out front. Skip the food, but the coffee is good. I was put off when we arrived at 2 and were told to come back at 3 because our room wasn’t ready, especially since the hotel looked nearly empty. Turns out I was wrong to let that put me off.

We were both impressed by how comfortable the beds were. The rooms were spacious, clean, and kept in surprisingly good shape compared with many motels off the interstate. It’s a comfortable little motel right on the road to Mt. Saint Helens, handy for visiting the mountain and the trails along the way. The one small snag was the AC unit: the indicator for the “cool” setting was missing, so I didn’t realize I could turn it on until about two hours after we arrived, after I’d taken a nap. For the price, it’s a great stop on a road trip or if you’re heading into the park. I think it deserves a higher rating based on my stay.

I wish I were overreacting, but I’m not. Bugs were flying all over, and just getting to our room felt like being in a Jumanji game. The place is convenient for Mt. St Helens, but I don’t think that makes it worth staying here. They wouldn’t let us check in even though we arrived only 15 minutes before 3pm. If you have asthma, I’d strongly recommend avoiding it. They’d sprayed so much air freshener, presumably to cover smells, that my socks were soaked with whatever they used when I took my shoes off. #lookelsewhere.

We stayed in the suite during a road trip to Seattle, and the service was really nice. The room had lots of space, a big TV, and large, comfortable beds. There were some stains on the carpet, but it still felt much cleaner than other chain motels we’d stayed in along the way, and the price was a great value. I’m not sure what the lower reviews are about.
