Comfort Inn & Suites Cave City

There was a baby cockroach in the bathroom after our first night. We went to the front desk three separate times, but the woman just wrote down my husband’s name, and I’m sure she’ll throw it away. We were told it could take several days to deal with, which means I now have to isolate all our belongings for days. As a professional cleaner, I was really disappointed by the cleanliness. The mirror in the room hadn’t been cleaned, and the pool looked neglected, with water rings and buildup on the surrounding tiles. Bugs should have been taken seriously, not brushed off as nothing, which makes it seem like this may be a recurring issue. I know it’s a cheap hotel, but cleanliness and bugs are serious concerns. We had room 104 with the jacuzzi tub, which was nice, though the jets were extremely loud and the water got way too hot unless you turned on the cold tap too. The vending machine only took cash. The lemon water in the lobby looked like it had been filled in the morning and left all day.

One of the top one-star reviews got a long reply from the owner that was written by Chat GPT. It even ended with “Ask Chat GPT.” I don’t trust this company. They clearly don’t care.

The location worked well for Mammoth Cave, but I’d recommend staying somewhere else. Check-in was fairly quick and the front desk staff were fine, but the room’s cleanliness was extremely disappointing. The carpet didn’t look vacuumed, dust covered the light fixtures, and the sheets had stains, hair, and lint. It seemed they changed only the fitted and flat sheets, making no effort to clean the top sheet. The AC didn’t cool the room, and its vent was covered in black mold. The shower pressure was low. I can’t comment on the breakfast or pool, but the other shared areas felt hot and looked like they’d had a quick pass without a thorough cleaning in a while. The lobby dispenser advertised lemon water but stayed empty throughout our visit. At checkout, nobody was at the desk, so we left our keys on the counter with a pile of others.

After a 15-hour drive, we were too exhausted to switch hotels, even after asking for another room on a different floor and finding the smell just as bad. Both rooms smelled horrible, like there was mold growing somewhere, and the ceiling near the AC airflow had discoloration. Now all our clothes smell, and we still had a nine-hour drive back to Florida. We paid close to $150 and expected a decent hotel, but it felt like a $50 motel room, though the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was terrible unless all you wanted was an apple or cereal. This was the worst Comfort inn I’ve stayed in. Do not stay here.
