Super 8 By Wyndham Cave City

For the price, this is a really good hotel. We usually choose 3-star-and-up places, and after reading mostly mixed reviews, we weren’t sure the rooms would be clean. We decided to stay for one night anyway. The rooms were almost clean and well maintained, not at all as bad as some people said about mold and bed bugs. My only complaints were stains on the bed sheets and the grab-and-go breakfast, which was just some fruit, a granola bar, and ready-made donuts.

For a cheap motel, the breakfast was pretty good: egg patties, sausage patties, waffles, and similar items, probably frozen and thawed but still alright. The room was clean and comfortable, with a large, comfortable king bed. The woman at the desk was nice. We had some trouble with the key card, but it eventually worked. All in all, a pretty good stay for the price.

After 14 hours on the road, it was a good spot to take a hot shower and get some sleep. The room was about the size you’d expect, and the bed was good for the price. I’d stay again if I’m back in the area, but I’d get coffee somewhere else since the in-room pot makes a weak cup. A pretty good budget place to crash.

The price was the best part. Breakfast was disappointing, and there was no housekeeping for stays longer than one night, though it wouldn’t have mattered in our case. Our room wasn’t clean: there was pubic and other hair in the tub, lots of dust, poor vacuuming, and a dead fly hanging from the lampshade. We had a problem when we first arrived, and the manager came to help and fixed it, but he was rather rude and abrupt. I think maybe that’s just their culture.
