Courtyard Cedar City Marriott

The first night was great, but we barely slept the second night because a drill team was staying at the hotel and we hadn’t been told. We were on the second floor in the middle of their rooms. There was loud talking nearby and upstairs, and the hallway only quieted down around 11 p.m. We left the TV on to cover the noise, fell asleep around 3 a.m., then were woken at 5 by yelling and slamming doors. At 10:45 p.m., we’d called the front desk about a curfew and were told it was meant to be 10:30. It’s a nice, new hotel, and we understand kids and groups can be noisy. Still, guests should be warned when large groups are booked, and people looking for quiet should be placed on upper floors or away from their rooms. Better communication and room placement could have prevented this.

The staff are consistently kind, considerate, and polite, and the Sunday breakfast buffet is wonderful. The food is always well prepared and nicely presented. I especially enjoy that some menu items change each week, including the salads. Today’s Belgian waffles with mixed berry compote were fabulous. Guests taking part in this experience could show more understanding of the people working in the industry. The hotel always does a remarkable job with breakfast. Thank you.

The shower was covered in pink mildew and hard-water stains, and the mattress protectors had what looked like dog hair all over them. Absolutely disgusting. These rooms badly need a deep clean. I won’t stay at this location again.

Two employees went out of their way to help: Jordan and the young man working in the bistro the night we checked in. I appreciate their effort to improve our stay. The room, though, was dirty, and we had to get the beds remade with clean sheets and ask for fresh towels. The bathroom was grimy and short on amenities. For a hotel that looks relatively new from outside, it already needs a refresh. This falls well short of Marriott standards. It’s only our first night, so I hope things improve.
