The second room was better, and the woman at the desk apologized for both the pool being closed and the first room's condition. Still, the bathroom door in the replacement room was a sliding mirror with no lock that didn't close all the way. The HVAC couldn't be controlled manually and would randomly blast cold air. Later, our toilet clogged. The one on the main floor clogged too, but the front desk staff apologized again and gave me a plunger for our room, which eventually fixed it. We live locally, but I booked for my daughter's December birthday so she and her friends could have a pool party and sleepover. The main doors were broken, which didn't look good for a place costing about 200 a night. We were told at check-in that the pool was out of order, a huge disappointment. The elevator was noisy, clunky, stalled, and vibrated. Every parent dropping off girls said the same, so we used the stairs for the rest of our stay. The first room had made beds but clearly hadn't been fully cleaned. It smelled odd, the tile entry was extremely sticky, and there were dried fluids all over the bathroom floor. I used to stay here years ago with visiting family and remembered it as a high-quality hotel. I don't know what changed, but I've had much better stays at far cheaper places.

We stayed for about 14 days, and by the end it really felt like home. Everyone, from the front desk to maintenance, became like family and genuinely cared about us and the other guests. The hotel was close to everything we needed, and when something didn't work, they fixed it. I can't say enough good things about the staff, and we'll definitely return since our daughter is stationed at the submarine navy base. I learned not to book through www.booking.com. I was advised to use the Hilton website because booking.com overcharged me. Still learning. Big thanks to everyone who made us feel so welcome.

The lamp USB ports don't work, and the beds are uncomfortable. The pillows flatten as soon as you use them. The heater fan runs on high, and when the room gets too warm and you turn it down, it blows cold air until the temperature reaches your setting.

The room was very clean and seemed recently renovated. Breakfast came on paper plates with plastic cutlery. Come on, that's outdated. They should use proper dishes and cutlery and avoid all that unnecessary trash. That's why I gave it only 3 stars.
