They make getting your deposit back so difficult that it feels like the employees must keep it. Maybe it's meant as a forced tip for horrible service or under compensation? There's a woman at the front desk who seems to hate everyone, or maybe just ? people. I've been nothing but nice and overly polite, and she seems to hate my smile.

This is my favorite place to stay in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area, for both short visits and longer ones. I stayed in 2023 and 2024. It's clean, quiet, and affordable. Prices beat other hotels, and weekly and monthly discounts are available for longer stays. I've stayed elsewhere, and JLL's rates are the best in town. It's on University Ave, close to UNI, businesses, restaurants, and shopping. Viking Road/Ave of the Saints is a 7-minute drive, and the shopping hub on San Marnan Drive and La Porte Road is about 15 minutes away. The exterior is older, but many rooms inside have been remodeled recently, including mine. Spacious studios with extra closet space and a kitchenette are also available. I didn't really use the exercise room because the equipment is older and the room is noticeably colder than the rest of the hotel. When snow or bad weather kept me from walking outside, though, I enjoyed walking the hallways. You can't tell from outside how spacious it is, with multiple levels and wings. I didn't use the TV's many streaming apps either, but it's nice to have them. As a non-smoker, I appreciated that smoking and non-smoking guests are kept in separate wings and that the non-smoking rule is enforced. At other hotels, I've lost count of how often I requested a non-smoking room and then had to switch because it strongly smelled of weed or cigarette smoke from previous guests. Everyone on staff, from management and the front desk to maintenance and housekeeping, is friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

My favorite stay in town so far. The rooms are comfortable and cozy, with air conditioning, cable, and full bathrooms. They're also extremely affordable. Staff are friendly and attentive, and maintenance came the same day to fix our issue with a smile. I loved it there!

I was stuck here for a while, and the room was dirty enough that I had to clean it before moving my things in. There were tears in the carpet that made it easy to trip. When the upstairs neighbors washed dishes or flushed the toilet, dirty water backed up into the bathtub. I caught COVID despite being isolated, except for the unsanitary conditions. When I moved out, I cleaned the room from top to bottom, but never got my deposit back. I'll never recommend this place to anyone. Ever!
