Rodeway Inn Cedar Rapids Westdale

After a long drive, the comfortable bed was a welcome sight. Our room was clean, and both the Wi-Fi and TV worked without trouble. The staff were polite and offered useful restaurant suggestions. I was pleasantly surprised by the weekend stay and would come back when I'm in Cedar Rapids.

I booked a week and told them I'd pay with a different card when I arrived. They said that was fine. At 7am on check-in day, I called to say I was on my way and expected to get there around 4:30pm, though check-in started at 3. When I arrived, they'd canceled my reservation and given the room away because a charge to my card had declined at 10am. Worst place ever.

The first three times I booked this hotel through my Choice Hotels account, everything went smoothly. I'm a diamond member and make reservations for my fiancé, who travels around the country for work. On September 10, 2025, he arrived after midnight, following a drive of more than four hours, and the desk clerk spent over 30 minutes challenging him about his age and the reservation being in my name. Before, they had simply verified his information and checked him in without any issue. This time the woman at the desk refused to honor the booking, canceled it, then made a new reservation at a higher rate. We lost the room price we had booked and the points, including the 4,000 extra points we'd chosen as our weeknight perk. She was rude and hostile. I won't book here again or recommend it.

The room was inexpensive, which made it worth the price. We had two queen beds, a microwave, and a fridge, and the bed was somewhat comfortable. Service was quick and helpful, and we got extra pillows. The luggage cart worked well. My friend thought she smelled dog pee, perhaps because the hotel allows pets, though we hadn't brought any. It's on one side of town rather than in the middle.
