From the cottage porch, we watched fireworks to welcome 2025 after a quick trip to Luckenbach. Annie's River Cottage made a wonderful base for exploring the Hill Country: we went to Vanderpool, hiked at Lost Maples, a favorite of mine as a kid, and drove to Fredericksburg for shops and restaurants, including Auslander. I'm from the Hill Country but live in Houston now, and the stay brought back all the area's beauty and charm. The 1890 trading post has lovely vintage character, but it's also exceptionally well kept and has the modern comforts we needed. We couldn't have asked for a better getaway and hope to return.

We spent mornings on the patio overlooking the river and evenings on the wraparound porch, watching deer in the big field. It was so peaceful and serene. The historic home has loads of charm, and Annie’s was a great base for day trips to Fredericksburg, enchanted rock, Kerrville, and elsewhere. My family came to visit with two travel trailers and could park them right on site, too. This Texas Hill Country hidden gem is somewhere I plan to return to. Thank you, Annie’s.

We spent most of our time relaxing on the decks, cooking and disconnecting for a while. The riverfront is private and secluded, so we could float without anyone else around. The views were amazing, and the property was clearly well cared for. We’ll definitely come back.

The grounds and cottage were impressively clean. My wife and I had a lovely stay, listening to the river on the property and the breeze moving softly through the trees. Being surrounded by nature was good for the soul. I’d highly recommend this place. It’s a real game changer!
