We were okay with the older look because the price was low and it was close to the highway, but the place isn't well maintained. While eating breakfast in the room, we spotted a bedbug on one of our bags and got out of there as fast as we could. I warned the owner, who blamed us for staying in so many hotels because we're cyclists. He didn't know it was the first day of our trip, and his response made me think they probably wouldn't address the problem. We were stressed about it for days. I regret not canceling when we arrived and driving a few minutes farther to another hotel, even if it cost a little more, so we could feel safe.

I can't understand the ratings above one star. I paid $200 for one night, which is a lot to me, but this was the nastiest place I've ever stayed. There was mold all over the shower curtain, the bathroom floor was so filthy it turned my feet black, and the carpet was covered in stains. The sheets were stained too. We drove back home instead of spending the night. A complete waste, and I'm very disappointed. I'll fight to get my money back.

The staff were wonderful and went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. The facility is dated, but things were clean, comfortable, and worked properly. Its spot near the highway made it easy to travel around the Cape, though highway noise could bother you if you're sensitive to it. For a more updated place with all the extras, you'd need to pay about twice as much. My husband and I plan to return for a second year. I'd just bring our own towels next time since theirs are on the small side.

After a five-hour drive, we arrived around 10 p.m. on a quick off-season trip and were glad to find the place open. Then we saw the first room, number 6: filthy, with blood and hair on the sheets. They moved us to room 206, which was much cleaner but had no heat and hair in the shower. Not somewhere to stay if you have standards. The staff were nice and understanding.
