Best Western Plus Chalmette Hotel

The room I was given after an early check-in was clean, comfortable, and well cared for. I’d arrived ahead of time, and the front desk at BW Plus Chalmette kept my luggage until they could offer me access to my reserved room. The modern look, welcoming feel, and reliable room temperature controls all added to the stay. Brasha on the overnight shift and several other staff members were especially helpful, including helping me track down a tea I’d come to love. Breakfast was standard, and nearby construction made parking a little tight, though I managed. It felt like a good value and a place where you could feel part of the community. I’d return on another New Orleans trip.

Little Wings and I were in town for Mardi Gras, and the team was professional throughout. They answered lots of our questions about the area. The entrance and outside looked great, and the rooms made the stay worthwhile. If you’re nearby, stay here. Tell them Little Wings and I, "Ed and Debbie Longo," say hello.

The front desk was the one bright spot. The woman who helped me was kind and answered all my questions without making a fuss. The rest of the stay was a letdown. The whole hotel, inside and outside the rooms, smelled like wet swim towels, and I thought the rate was way too high, especially compared with a VERY nice place we’d stayed at the weekend before. I’m not sure whether it was inflated because of the dance convention nearby. Our TV wouldn’t stay on, the water pressure was ZERO, and housekeeping tried to clean before checkout. The breakfast attendant wasn’t welcoming, and there was a tip jar on the counter. Sound carried badly through the walls, ceilings, and floors. In the middle of the night, the room above sounded like someone was washing silverware in the bathtub and throwing a party.

Even with someone in the room next to ours blasting music and partying at 4 in the morning, I had a pleasant stay. The walls are thin, and it was a good distance from family and the festivities I wanted to reach. The staff and breakfast were great. My husband left a tip, and I urge other breakfast guests to do that too. The orange juice and biscuits and gravy were honestly the best part, and you might get lucky and find some bacon.
