Marina Motel Chalmette

I’d stay again for the price we paid, though at a higher rate I’d look elsewhere. We were there four nights, and the staff I met were friendly and helpful. The location, about 10 miles from the French quarter, worked perfectly for us, with free parking and plenty of food choices a couple miles south. It was quiet the whole time, which I appreciated. The room was comfortable, but the cleaning needed work. Someone’s old shoes were under a bed skirt, the windowsill was quite dirty, and there were cobwebs in the corners. One morning, a spider ran across the window as I opened the curtains. There was a musty smell, but spray took care of it. The refrigerator looked a little battered, but it was clean and worked fine. Shower pressure was excellent, and there was lots of hot water. DIRECTV kept having signal problems, leaving maybe two or three channels to watch after a day out. 3.75/5

At checkout, they said there’d be no compensation, just a discount on a future stay. That felt like the punch line after everything that happened. My first room was dirty, and when I asked to have it vacuumed, the staff seemed put off. I offered to vacuum it myself, but the vacuum barely picked anything up. I called Priceline, and they came back saying the inn would move me to a much better room and offer compensation. The room across the hall had stains on the carpet and a hairball in the bedsheets. I stayed in the original room and planned to talk to the manager in the morning, but nothing came of it. No one communicated with me, and there was no note at the door or email. I kept myself busy away from the room. It felt creepy, I worried about bugs the whole time, and I lost quality sleep. One bug was almost as big as my pinky finger. I should’ve left, but it seemed clear I wasn’t getting a refund. I was really disappointed, especially after seeing the newer reviews.

I needed a place for a few weeks while I’m in the process of buying a house. Since I work about 2 miles away, I booked here. This place is horrible!! I’ve never stayed at a worse hotel.

Our reservation was for two queen beds, but when we arrived they changed the room to two twin/double beds. Our family of five didn’t sleep well.
