The tap water around here has a lot of iron, which you can also see in the red rocks and dirt. In the shower you might notice an iron taste, and the toilet water can look cloudy or beige. I looked it up on Google, and it said it’s harmless unless you consume large amounts over a long time. Just a local quirk, but some previous reviewers didn’t seem to know about it. We slept great. Like any roadside motel, you can hear traffic, and earplugs help. The rooms are updated and very clean, the beds are comfortable after a long drive, and the showers are good. Breakfast is included, with bagels, sausages, and eggs. Getting on and off the highway is easy, and this is a great halfway stop on the 40 between the Palm Springs area and Amarillo, TX. Yes, I’d stay again. The restaurant next door also has sweet milk cake, East Indian style, that melts in your mouth, plus other unusual Asian treats to go.

The price for the room was great, and the location worked really well. It is noisy here, but that wasn’t a deal breaker for me. The rooms are very clean, the staff are wonderful, and the included breakfast is delicious. Traffic gets lighter at night, with fewer cars and trucks. You can also cover the sound with a fan app or any noise you like on YouTube. It worked beautifully.

The front desk guy working the night of 1/17 was rude from the start. My partner went in to ask about using the bathroom, and he said there were no public bathrooms and sent them to the gas station down the street. Then he told me our reservation for 1/17 to 1/18 was actually for the day before, and said we had no reservation. He didn’t apologize, show any understanding, or sympathize. We got no refund. We would have paid for a room that night since we were already there, but the customer service was so poor that I decided we’d find somewhere else to stay. Not even a simple sorry, just more like, “oh well, you SOL”.

After driving from Stroud Oklahoma, this was the best stop for the distance and time we’d covered. We wanted somewhere between Gallup, NM and Winslow, AZ while heading east to west, and this was the only option that worked for us. It was our first stay here, and we liked the shorter drive home to the Phoenix area. We stayed Monday Sept 22 and checked out Tuesday the 23rd. The room was clean, the shower was good, we slept decently, and breakfast was nice. The price was great for what we got. The hotel faces I-40, so truck traffic is VERY loud. We were tired enough to fall asleep anyway, and the sound almost lulled us to sleep, though other people may feel differently. We do plan to stay here again; it worked out well for us.
