Travelodge by Wyndham Chambersburg

The hotel was old, with things broken and unusable, and the staff were very rude. I had to leave early Monday, December 16, at 3:20 p.m. First, they put us in a room where the heater made a lot of noise. When I asked to switch rooms, the replacement had no heat. I called ahead to ask whether there was an extra charge for my cat, and the man at the front desk said no. When I arrived, he charged me $15 for the cat and then denied being the person who'd answered. I recognized him because he was Indian, and the person on the phone was Indian too. The staff seemed greedy for money. Don't waste yours.

The room was clean, and the staff were professional and kind. The heat worked well. The refrigerator and microwave were unplugged, and the microwave door looked loose. We didn't plug anything in to see whether they worked.

I booked a weekend stay for my son for Remembrance Day in Gettysburg. He got stuck at the airport because he couldn't get a rental car. Booking.com asked the hotel to cancel without a penalty, but they refused. It couldn't be helped, and he had no way to know this would happen.

The staff member was nice and helpful about refunding us when we checked out less than three hours later, but we didn't feel safe or comfortable there. We threw our things into the room, went to get dinner, and grabbed everything to leave as soon as we returned and started settling in. Neither the outside door nor the balcony door would close properly. My husband had to body-check them with full force to get them shut and locked. The bathroom was outdated and filthy, and the shower barely fit one person. It looked as if it hadn't been cleaned since 1972. There were stains on the pillows and bedding, and I found hair in the bed when I pulled back the sheets. The elevator was a gamble, too. I'm currently disabled with a knee injury and had to take the stairs almost every time. Somehow the pictures do this place justice.
