The downtown location made it easy to find plenty to do on foot, and our corner King Suite had a beautiful panoramic view. We’d originally booked a king room, then upgraded. The room itself was lovely. At 4 a.m. we woke up cold because the thermostat kept blowing cold air and the heat wouldn’t come on. The front desk receptionist tried to help but couldn’t fix it. Later that morning, Deen, the guest services manager, gave us points toward a future stay to make up for the problem. He handled it professionally and fairly. We came back the weekend after New Year’s, and Amanda was so friendly and helpful in finding us the right room. Big thanks to her! If you want a clean, nice hotel with lots nearby, this one has that going for it.

They ask for your room number at breakfast, so I assumed it was included. When I checked with the front desk, I learned it costs $11 per person. There wasn’t a sign explaining the charge at the desk or in the breakfast area. The food itself was mediocre, with a self-serve setup for waffles, yogurt and toppings, and artificial scrambled eggs. Calling this continental breakfast is misleading. Shame on Hyatt for handling the charge this way.

At 3 a.m., I woke to find a drunk man wearing only a white shirt and underwear inside my room. I was the only one with access to it. The night attendant later told us he’d found the man outside in his underwear trying to get back into the hotel, locked out of his wife’s room next door. From what the attendant said, it seems he was mistakenly given access to my door. That’s a frightening security failure. The night clerk acknowledged the man shouldn’t have been able to enter without key access to the lobby, elevator, or floors. The next morning, the manager gave a different explanation, saying the man had “come from the roof down,” and suggested I’d left my door open. That felt insulting and unrealistic. I was traveling alone, and I certainly hadn’t left my door open at 3 a.m. When I asked to change rooms right away, the morning attendant who’d replaced the night clerk raised her voice, said she “wasn’t told anything,” and insisted she couldn’t help. The hotel comped one night, but I didn’t get a real apology or explanation. I left feeling unsafe and dismissed by staff who were inconsistent and unwilling to take responsibility. I’d warn others, especially women traveling alone, to avoid this hotel until it fixes its security problems and retrains staff.

We paid well over $200 for one night and expected a safe room for my elderly parent. Instead, the carpet had a long rip in its seam that looked awful and posed a tripping danger. The beds were badly worn, too, and I felt embarrassed and sad that I’d brought my parent here. Although the room was supposed to be accessible, the bathroom wasn’t. Its only safety bar was in the shower near the faucet, with nothing on the side. There was a high-sided tub and a low toilet with no handrails, making it very difficult and unsafe for my parent. The owners seem to think they can charge a high price without providing a decent room or meeting ADA requirements. I wouldn’t stay again at a hotel operated by this company. Fortunately, not every Hyatt has these cheap, disrespectful owners. Stay somewhere else.

Amanda at the front desk gave me a warm welcome when I arrived late, and she wasn’t overly chatty. She took great care of me. Highly recommend.
