Days Inn & Suites Houston Channelview TX

After five days on the road hauling a big load from California and staying in different hotels every day, this has been the best one so far. The staff were friendly, funny, and knew their stuff, so even checking in was fun. The rooms have great colors and design, and everything felt very clean, safe, and secure. There are restaurants nearby.

The room cost us $90, and the smell was awful. It was supposed to be non-smoking, and the lighting had a Bates Motel feel. The service was the worst I've had in a long time. Tap water tasted like poison, so I tried buying water from the soda machine, but it took my money and gave me nothing. The woman at the front desk waited for her show to go to commercial before saying it wasn't their machine and she couldn't help. We took juice from the "continental breakfast," then got sharply told we couldn't take anything out of the lobby. When we asked for our one-dollar key deposit, they acted suspicious about whether we were even motel guests. Trying to take a dollar at a time really makes the place look desperate. I'd never expect much from a budget motel, but this was incredibly disappointing. I wish I'd paid attention to the other reviews.

The beds were comfortable and the room was clean, but that bright green wall paint looked strange. Breakfast was poor, and the milk was bad. I told the receptionist, who just pointed out that the date on it was still current.

The rooms were nice and clean, with a sofa, microwave, and mini-fridge, and the staff were friendly. There was also a washer and dryer. My only gripe is that the internet kept dropping every 30 minutes, like it does at most big budget chains.
