Holiday Inn Express Charleston-Kanawha City

The staff were friendly, and breakfast had lots of choices, but I came mainly to use the pool and couldn't swim because its heater was broken. Our room also wasn't very clean: there was a stain on a comforter and dirt in the bathroom cracks. We didn't have enough towels or washcloths, either. Being so close to the interstate made it extremely noisy. I couldn't sleep during either of our two nights.

My stay was awful, and I wouldn't tell anyone to come here. The location was dark and felt unsafe, and the room was grimy and moldy. I found bed bugs, which was an absolute dealbreaker and a concern for my health and belongings. I'll report the bugs and mold to the Local Health Department and share what happened on travel review sites. The staff didn't make things better. The blonde housekeeper stood in the hallway on her phone for a long time instead of cleaning. The redhead woman at the desk was often outside smoking with a male employee, while he stood around chatting at the desk and ignored guests and the lobby. At breakfast, the portions were tiny and the food was under- and overcooked. When we asked for more, the breakfast lady got visibly angry. We shouldn't have to feel intimidated for asking for the meal we paid for. I'd give this zero stars if I could. From start to finish it was a nightmare. Stay elsewhere if you care about your health or safety.

Misty was so accommodating, and the breakfast attendant was wonderful with our kids, always smiling and friendly. The hotel was clean and the staff were lovely. A quick, great stay.

The room was very clean, breakfast was fantastic, and the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. But the highway is right beside the building, and the traffic noise was overwhelming. When I went to lower the shade, I saw some people who might have been homeless walking through a large gap in the chain-link fence right outside. I made sure the window was latched. The area seemed a bit seedy, and we can't stay again because we're light sleepers and the road noise was awful. If that doesn't bother you, this is a very nice place.
