The people are what made our five days at Hotel Nickel over Christmas so memorable. Alana at the front desk and Ty, the bellhop, were warm, attentive, and thoughtful. They anticipated what we needed and made us feel at home; over the stay, their excellent hospitality grew into a real sense of friendship. The whole experience felt special, with a level of kindness and attention that’s hard to find. Alana and Ty are stars. The boutique hotel itself is beautifully put together, elegant and welcoming, with more amenities than we expected and care in every detail. We had a truly wonderful stay and will return. I’d recommend it without hesitation to anyone visiting Charleston.

Loved staying here. The staff were fantastic, and the rooms were really nice, with a kitchen, steamer, and washer and dryer. Every room opens onto a courtyard. The rooftop bar has a great feel, and the hotel is right in the middle of everything. I’d highly recommend it.

For the price and location, this is the nicest hotel I’ve stayed in. The central general area wasn’t too noisy during my visit, though I can imagine it might get loud in peak season. The Daniel bar is an ideal spot to hang out with friends, so I’d like to see it staffed more often. If I’m back in Charleston, I’ll stay here again.

The details at The Nickel are so well thought out. I loved having a steamer and hamper in the room, plus fresh ground coffee there, and coffee and tea in the second floor courtyard in the morning. The rooms are beautiful, the service is excellent, and the rooftop bar has stunning views. Amber deserves a special mention: after a busy day at the office, she makes me feel like I’m coming home. She’s the best. Easily one of the nicest places to stay in Charleston.

We live in Charleston and spent New Year’s overnight here for the first time. The large, well-equipped rooms were quiet despite facing King St, thanks to the high-quality windows, and I loved that there’s no carpet. The rooftop bar and second floor lounge are fantastic, and the snacks and drinks in the room were good and reasonably priced. Service was top notch. A tip: there’s great public parking nearby, so skip valet. Street parking is free from 6PM to 9AM. We’re glad we booked at a reasonable introductory rate, since I expect the price will skyrocket soon. Pound for pound, the best hotel in town.
