AC Hotel Charlotte Ballantyne

The floor where my prospective insurance company hosted my interview felt professional and elegant. Unlike some lower tier hotels that rent out banquet or ballroom space as commercial offices, this venue was a much nicer setting. I had a really good experience.

The front desk staff were kind, and they did move us when the heat in our first room turned out not to work. We only discovered the problem after settling in for the night in our pajamas, around 9 pm, so changing rooms was inconvenient. The new room had heat, but the shower had weak pressure and took a while to get hot. Its toilet paper holder was broken and spun around, dropping the paper on the floor. There was no free lobby coffee, and we weren’t offered anything for the trouble beyond an apology. Maintenance had come to look at the broken heat but couldn’t fix it. We initially thought we might be using the thermostat wrong since there were no instructions, but the heat simply wasn’t working. We were disappointed and probably won’t stay again.

There were lots of places to eat within walking distance, and the location was great. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, and the price was good. We’d stay again.

Timothy at reception made check-in especially welcoming. He was attentive and detail oriented, which helped make our first stay here a good one. The neighborhood felt calm and pleasant, with shops close by and a farmers market on Saturday. From the front of the building on the 5th floor, we had a beautiful view. The hotel was elegant, clean, and well maintained. Our room was comfortable and a nice place to relax, with a good bed and even a decent sofa bed for our little kids. The other amenities were pleasant too, and we enjoyed the professional, peaceful setting. Food is the one thing I wouldn’t recommend ordering there. There’s no room service, the food isn’t their specialty, and there wasn’t a kids’ menu. We found it better to walk to nearby restaurants, though having a drink at the hotel bar is still nice.
