Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Charlotte Arrowood by IHG

Breakfast was a real bright spot, with plenty of good choices for someone like me who tries to eat healthy. The room was clean, nice, and had a very comfortable bed, and the location was about 15-20 from downtown, though there wasn't much around it. The late noise was rough. We were on the first floor, so some sound outside wasn't a surprise, but a men's rugby team talked loudly for over an hour, from around 10 or 11 until about 11. It would've been unwelcome if we'd needed to sleep early for a flight. We didn't, thankfully. My husband and I were only there one night. At check-in, the woman seemed irritated and just handed us forms to fill out. She didn't smile or seem happy to be there. When we returned from dinner around 9:30 PM, she was leaving, and nobody seemed to take over.

The staff were warm, friendly, and helpful, and the location was still right where I needed to be, even if it could've been better. For the price, the room was mostly clean and well equipped. I liked the walk-in shower, though the towels were too small, as I've noticed at other hotels too. The king bed was comfortable, but neither the USB outlets worked nor did my room key behave reliably. I had trouble with it twice. There was also some gunk around the bathroom sink drain that should've been cleaned better. I stayed two nights and would come back if I needed to be in the area. Otherwise, I might look at a newer Holiday Inn elsewhere in the city. Still, the price made this a good value.

We picked this place for its proximity to the Charlotte airport, and check-in with Twan was friendly and quick. The room was spotless and roomy, with a couch and a surprising setup: one TV by the bed and another by the couch. It was very comfortable. There was also a desk, refrigerator, microwave, and small sink, so I could easily imagine staying at this Holiday Inn Express for a longer stretch.

I have to give Ms. LaZaria a shout out. She usually works the first shift, and she's always helpful and pleasant to talk with. Our personalities really click. Brian, who normally works third shift, also looks out for me whenever I'm here. He wasn't working during that weekend, but these two are my personal MVPs. I usually stay at this Charlotte NC location for a couple of days when I travel there. This time, on 1/17-1/18, I only stayed one night. My room was ready before check-in, which made me really happy. It wasn't my usual king disability walk-in shower room, but it was still pretty decent. This review is long overdue.
