Hyatt Place Charlotte Airport / Billy Graham Parkway

Compared with the Woodspring next door, where I'm staying now, Hyatt was quieter and nicer, enough to make the extra cost feel worthwhile. I was there for two days because of the weather. The rooms are large and perfectly fine for a short stay, though nothing fancy. Mine had a mini fridge and couch, but no bathtub, which is my main complaint. I'm tired of hotels offering only showers. If you're charging over $100 a night, there ought to be a tub. Breakfast was somewhere in the middle, with eggs, sausage, cereal, and hot coffee that tasted a little burnt. At least the coffee was free. Parking was another annoyance. It costs $10 a day, which seems pointless when the $70 hotel behind it, even though it's bad, doesn't charge. I didn't see a security guard in Hyatt's lot, so I wondered what the fee was for besides corporate greed. The stay wasn't bad, just not special, and I didn't leave unhappy.

I spent four nights here before my flight and found the stay pretty pleasant. The room was clean and spacious, and the employees helped when I needed them. I'd read other reviews but didn't run into many, or perhaps any, of the problems people mentioned. I'm not a very picky traveler, and I'd stay again. My only complaint was the elevator: just one of the two was working, and I often had to press the button several times. Thanks to the staff for a good stay.

We paid expecting a better stay, and we'll look elsewhere next time. Music blared in the parking lot until 4 a.m.; I couldn't see any security, and nobody seemed willing to step in. The assistant manager showed no regret or concern about what happened. Avoid this place if you need sleep.

The place is simple, but cozy, clean, spacious, and a good value. The bed was very comfortable. We arrived around 3 a.m., and after I'd called ahead worried about the late arrival, the night staff member already knew my name. He was kind and helpful then, and friendly throughout our couple of nights. For the location and price, I'd recommend it if you're traveling in the area.
