Studio 6 Charlotte, NC – Airport South

The fridge was a good size, but the room smelled terrible. There were bugs, the toilet didn't work, and criminal activity went on at all hours of the night. The smoke alarm had been removed.

The bed looked clean and I didn't see any bugs. Counter service was pretty good, too, but one guy had made a reservation and still got turned away somehow, so make sure your booking says STUDIO 6 and not motel 6. There was yelling outside late at night. I know the hotel can't really control that, but the area felt a little seedy. The stairwell handrails were gross, and the carpeting smelled kind of like pee. Even the outdoor walkways were carpeted, and it rained during our stay. The room itself smelled fine. The elevator wasn't working. In our room, two lightbulbs were missing, an outlet was broken, a threshold was loose, and there was a hole in the wall shaped like an outlet. Someone had scribbled the room number in ballpoint pen on the outside door frame. The pillows were clean, but square and strangely about a foot tall. For a delayed connection, I might have put up with it at fifty bucks. At $100, I'd look somewhere else. It was a pretty wild stay, and I wouldn't recommend it.

I'm here long-term, and the room feels more like a roomy studio apartment than a hotel room. Having my pup with me is great, and the full-size fridge, microwave, and stovetop are definite pluses. Everyone has been so friendly, from the front desk to the housekeepers, and they've made me feel at home.

I found roaches in the microwave, on the counter, in the sink, and in the bathroom. They moved me to another room the next day, but I'm not going back.
