The staff were excellent throughout my two-night, three-day stay, and when I mentioned a residue stain in the bathtub, management dealt with it right away. They even offered another room, but the quick fix was enough. Check-in was fast, and the place was affordable and conveniently located by the University of Virginia campuses. The room was a good size and had a table, mini fridge, microwave, TV, safe, iron, and ironing board. Breakfast had a nice variety, with downstairs space to eat if you wanted. I had a nice stay and would recommend it.

The only real bright spot was the staff, who let us leave after the first night and cancel the second without a penalty. The building looks like an old motel that was renovated and enclosed to make hallways; the work is showing its age. The room seemed nice at first, but the sink counter sloped sharply away from the wall, the bedding and towels were worn, and the bed and pillows were extremely uncomfortable. Chargers kept falling out of the outlets and wouldn’t charge, and the shower swung between freezing and scalding. Other guests were noisy all night. It wasn’t the worst place I’ve paid for, but far from the best, and I wouldn’t stay again.

The room was aging, and the bathroom needs major renovation. Service was okay, but the price was very high for a run-down place. We chose it because we thought it would be convenient, though there are probably better hotels only a short distance away. After one night, we didn’t like the stay and wouldn’t return. At that rate, I’d give it two stars.

Rooms are clean enough and the staff are friendly, but I’m not sure the building deserves a three-star rating. The part that’s still open to the air and looks like a motel gets pretty chilly in early spring, and some of the hardware is worn. I’ve found better value for less elsewhere, though in this town anything better seems to cost another $50 or more per night. I hope they use the profits to tear it down and rebuild.

Breakfast was good, the location was great, and the accommodations were reasonable for the price. The staff were professional and very nice. Still, the room had cosmetic problems and some exposed wiring, with plenty of rust and peeling paint in the bathroom. The glass-enclosed fourth-floor hallway felt scary and a bit rickety. I arrived Sunday and waited for the prearranged shuttle, which never showed. At the hotel, I was told it had broken down and didn’t usually run on weekends.
