Baymont by Wyndham Chattanooga/Eastridge

Even though we got in late at night, they greeted us by name. Check-in was quick, and they pointed out where our room was and gave us the useful details, including breakfast. We were able to get to bed within five minutes. The whole arrangement worked out really well.

The elevator doors shake and don’t seem to close all the way before it starts moving. Our room had a large empty area, and I’m guessing a sofa usually goes there in a single-bed room. There was a mildew smell in the room, then later the bathroom smelled of smoke. We don’t smoke, so it definitely wasn’t us. It also took a bit of driving around to find the place, and the front desk staff weren’t very welcoming.

The breakfast apples were sticky and squishy, and the lotion left on the bathroom sink had already been used. Our pull-out couch was so dirty that they offered to change its sheets or move us to another room. The sheets had stains, and the floors were dirty throughout. The hotel and room felt run-down, too. The elevator smelled awful and seemed close to breaking. The online photos are old, since the front desk and snack area were unkempt. I wouldn’t choose this place for a family stay.

The staff were really nice and helpful, and check-in went smoothly. The rooms were a decent size for the price. Breakfast was disappointing, though. We’d picked this hotel because breakfast was included, but it was so underwhelming that we only ate it once. The shower pressure wasn’t great, and at one point I saw a roach crawling on the tub. One side of the bed made a noise like someone holding up a sheet of metal and wiggling it whenever a person moved. On the second night, we could hear the same noise from someone else’s bed. It was okay for a short trip and decent enough for the price, but I wouldn’t return. I’d pay more for a better location and better quality.
