The online photos need updating because this place doesn’t look like them, and it doesn’t feel like a three-star hotel. Families should be able to see what they’re paying for. The walls had patched holes all over, and the ones in my room looked old, with paint over them but no texture. The lobby furniture needs a thorough cleaning too. After checking in, I noticed cigarette and marijuana smells on the way to my room. They need to enforce the no-smoking rules.

I came back because I’d stayed here in 2015, when it was a Baymont Inn, and had a good experience. It’s now a rebranded Quality Inn, and under Choice Hotel ownership it seems to have fallen through the cracks. I only stayed because dealing with the cancellation fee on my expense report was a hassle. The place is beat-up, with out-of-order signs, a room missing its shower curtain, a broken nightstand lamp switch, brown ceiling stains, and a door that looked as if someone had tried to pry it open. The pool looked cloudy and needed skimming, so I didn’t use it. I didn’t try breakfast since it started an hour after I had to leave each morning. I can’t comment on the food. There are nicer hotels at the same rate on the exit, so I wouldn’t recommend this one. It’s sad to see it so run down after remembering it as a nice place. Service was also frustrating. There was a significant language barrier with the front desk staff. They didn’t know what a GSA rate was or how to handle the tax-exempt form, and my receipt never arrived by email. I’d reserved and checked out in person, but still had to repeat and spell my name and give my room number again. When I asked for the receipt because I doubted it would be emailed, the employee seemed bewildered. Checkout took 15 minutes, with no other guests at the desk. I’ve stayed in nicer hotels in third world countries while in the military.

We only needed somewhere to crash while traveling, and you get what you pay for. The room was clean enough on the surface, but the hotel is very dated and needs a deep cleaning. There was mold in the shower corners, stained carpet, holes in the walls, and missing ceiling tiles in the hallway and stairwell. It looked like water damage hadn’t been cleaned up properly, so there may be mold or mildew. We had an iron but no ironing board. Breakfast was okay, though not great, with limited variety. I’ve stayed in worse places, but I won’t return.

The location worked well, near shops, restaurants, and the interstate, and downtown was 8-10 minutes away. The rooms are very dated, though. The clock and iron in mine were broken, and breakfast wasn’t good. After one night, they discontinued my reservation, so I couldn’t get back into my room the next morning.

The one good thing was the convenient location. The pool was halfway decent, though the pool area wasn’t very clean, and breakfast was poor. The ice machine was ancient and didn’t work. It felt like broken things were left covered up or ignored. The building looked neglected as soon as I walked in, with dirty walls, water damage across the ceilings, and even a hole in a wall covered with cardboard and tape. My room smelled musty, plaster was coming off the ceiling, and there was mold in the bathroom. One of the two beds had stained sheets, and the room itself wasn’t very clean. The employees I encountered were all rude. Check-in had problems on their end, and the woman at the desk didn’t seem to care. There may also have been a language barrier, since I’m not sure she understood us. If you can afford it, stay somewhere else.
