Fleetwood Inn Suites

Watch out for duplicate charges. We were on a motorcycle trip with the guys and rented four rooms. The stay itself was fine, but after we left the next morning, all four of us were charged the exact same amount again four days later. One duplicate might have been an accident, but it happened to everyone. When we called, they denied making the charges. We each had to cancel our credit cards and dispute the transactions. That was a huge hassle halfway through our trip, while out of town and without a credit card.

The canal and boat slips made for a lovely view, and the people were friendly. We were there one night for a fishing trip, and the room showed no signs of bed bugs. But it was badly maintained and dirty. Paint from sloppy repair work was splattered all over, with no drop cloths used. There was dust across the headboard, lamps, pictures, sconces, and every flat surface. Something, maybe soda, was splashed across a wall, and doors and wall corners had fingerprints. The sink was clean, but the area around it wasn't. I used half a can of Clorox wipes just to clean the basics. I wouldn't stay here again.

Booking on Expedia was easy, but after that the stay went downhill. Once in our room, we asked for extra towels and were told to pick up the phone and press 0. We did, but were told nobody could help until morning. After driving for half the day, we couldn't even all shower. Then the air conditioner quit around 1 a.m., and we couldn't move rooms because no one was there overnight. At 9 the next morning, there was still nobody at the desk when we went to report it, check out, and ask for our money back. The cleaning staff again told us to call 0, and still nobody answered. We tried to get a refund through Expedia, but after contacting the hotel they told Expedia we were lying and should have reported the problem. We tried, but nobody was there or answering the phone. Absolutely ridiculous. We'll never go back.

The staff were friendly, but there was hardly anyone around. We could only book a lakeside room, which cost twice as much. The room was dusty, and when I asked for the carpet to be vacuumed, there was still debris on the floor, including a straw. Someone had covered the door peephole with a bandage. There was only decaf coffee and no breakfast at all.
