Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Buffalo Airport

We stayed twice, going to Toronto and again on the way back. The hotel was great overall: clean bedrooms and bathrooms, friendly staff, a good location across from the airport, a wonderful breakfast, and an airport shuttle. I'd book here again. On our first late night check-in, though, the toilet was running and not working. I checked the tank stopper. The young woman at reception said maintenance could handle it in the morning, but I said that wasn't acceptable and asked to change rooms. She first said she wasn't allowed, the hotel was full, and there was no housekeeping. After some back-and-forth, she called someone and moved us to another room, which was fine. This isn't really a complaint about the hotel, but it does seem like a business risk to leave a young, inexperienced, perhaps poorly trained receptionist alone at the desk.

Breakfast was decent and had enough choice to get the morning started. My room was spotless, comfortable, and well kept, and the service around the hotel stayed impressive. Joyce and Jami made the visit especially memorable with their warmth, professionalism, and genuine care. They went out of their way to get the details right, and their hospitality is reason enough for me to return. I had a wonderful stay at Fairfield by Marriott Buffalo Airport, and I'll definitely be back. Thanks to the whole team, especially Joyce and Jami, for making it feel like home.

We regularly choose the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Buffalo Airport on Genesee Street when we're in the area, and we're looking forward to returning. After I sent feedback about a few problems during a recent stay, General Manager Angie McCready contacted me promptly. She was professional and responsive over a few emails. I mentioned I'd be back in November, and she assured me she'd address the concerns with her team and upgraded that upcoming reservation. I work in customer service and know how uncommon it is to find employees so committed to good service. Angie is a strong example of hospitality done well. Her quick, proactive response made a real difference, and I wanted to recognize her dedication to giving guests a positive experience.

We only stayed one night, and that was enough to decide not to book hotels near the airport again. The fourth floor hallway smelled extremely strongly of smoke, as did the elevators. It didn't smell like cigars or cigarettes to me, maybe cannabis or something stronger, but I'm not sure. I'm allergic to tobacco and my nostrils were badly irritated. I worried I was imagining it, so I asked my son and another guest we met on the way to the lobby. He and his daughter confirmed the strong smell in the long hallway. The front desk staff greeted us warmly. When we asked for a room on another floor, she first said the hotel was full, but after hearing the issue she gave us keys to another room. I also asked whether it was a smoke-free hotel. Marriott is usually our first choice of chain, and we'd never had this kind of situation before. Perhaps it's because of the location across from Buffalo Niagara Airport.
