Delta Hotels Chesapeake Norfolk

We were counting on a good night's sleep after a seven-hour trip, but ended up looking for somewhere else after midnight. The first room had dried blood on the curtains, so we left it right away. In the next one, I found a blue drug baggie on my foot while showering, apparently from the tub's edge or the inside of a curtain that hadn't been changed. I nearly threw up. The place felt extremely dirty and neglected. My husband and I spoke to the front desk, but there was no manager on duty, so we left around 11:30 pm. We expect a full refund. The lack of management is obvious.

We had several catered meals during the convention, and the food was amazing. Sammy was a guest favorite, always attentive and right there whenever we needed something. The bartender was great too, though I didn't catch his name. The hotel itself was very nice, and the staff were polite, friendly, and helpful with what I needed throughout the stay. 10 out of 10, and thanks for everything!

The bed was comfortable, and the restaurant food was pretty good. Staff were friendly and helpful, and I liked the decor. Breakfast wasn't included, which seemed unusual. My room had a draft, so I had to turn the heat up more than usual, and the shower only got lukewarm even on the hottest setting. I was in an adjoining room, and the neighbors were really noisy. There's a big gap beneath the connecting door, so sound carries, and the doors slam loudly even when you try to close them carefully. Decent hotel, but those room issues added up.

The water pressure was fantastic, but that's the only reason I'm giving two stars. The hotel had just one working elevator during a major state conference. The ice machine on the sixth floor was broken, so it was quicker to walk the length of the building, go down two floors, then back up. The stairwell smelled like an ashtray. My fitted sheet kept popping off the mattress, and there was no microwave even though there's an obvious spot for one. The TV was the smallest I've seen in a hotel since the early 2000s. Staff were courteous and very apologetic, but management seems to have missed basic upkeep. If you can, stay somewhere else.
