MX Motel

The office staff are always friendly and helpful. It's a quiet little motel just off the road. The rooms feel a bit dated, but they were clean.

The room had lots of space, a comfortable bed, and a nicely sized bathroom. There was also a little kitchen area with a sink, cabinet, toaster, and microwave. For a small town, this motel was great. The cafe around the corner had excellent food and service too. I'd recommend staying here if you're in town.

The two bed rooms are much nicer, and this is definitely a historic place. Just keep in mind it's a small town motel, not a Hilton. I had a pretty funny shower incident where the smoke alarm went off and the cleaners came to check I was safe.

We ended up staying one night because we were too tired to keep driving, but first had to unpack our own sheets. The sheets provided were ripped at the corners and had hair on them. The room otherwise seemed clean and had some updates, and the shower was nice, though the room was too small for us. The kitchen was missing dishes and utensils, so I'm glad I brought plastic. The so-called full-size fridge was about five feet tall, with a freezer about the size of a medium cooler. The guest laundry was being used by people from the neighborhood, despite a sign saying it wasn't for public use. Its damaged door was unsecured, and we were told there was no way to keep the public out. That made me feel a bit unsafe, especially since our room door had no deadbolt. Across the street, the grain elevator was loud and busy, and the train whistles kept going all night. We weren't expecting a Hampton Inn & Suites, but clean, intact sheets seemed like a fair expectation.
