DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel St. Louis - Chesterfield

I was here for a conference, and the hotel food was really flavorful. Snacks and drinks were available the whole time, and the conference rooms worked well for what we needed. The receptionists were attentive and friendly, and my room was comfortable and clean. Great hotel.

I regret staying here for 12 nights. There were Asian beetles flying around my room, and I’m looking at 6 as I write this. I switched rooms twice during my stay and found the same problem in both. For 12 nights I slept with one eye open, and even had one crawling on the pillow beside me. Staff were nice, but that didn’t make up for the room conditions. All they could offer was to vacuum up the bugs. The rooms are outdated, and the walls are thin enough that I hear every cough and flush. The positive reviews feel deceiving at best.

The facilities are stunning, and you have to see the rec center. I’ve never seen anything like it at a hotel. The people we met were wonderful too. Brandon at the front desk explained there’d been a mixup and upgraded our room before we arrived, then patiently answered all our questions. Sarah from sales put on another hat to bring us coffee and breakfast, and sent a gift when we had to switch back to another room on short notice from the hotel. An engineer kindly vacuumed Japanese beetles from our room and assured me he’d release them unharmed. Even as the kitchen was closing, the charismatic bartender let us order food. Several others were great, though I missed their names. I wish we lived closer or had more reasons to visit.

We booked 2 queen beds through Chase Travel and paid extra because that’s what we needed. At check-in, the hotel rep insisted the booking was for a king through Priceline and said he couldn’t give us two queens because they cost more. We told him we hadn’t used Priceline and showed that we had an email from Chase confirming the 2 queens. He wouldn’t even look at it and said I was wrong. Eventually he called it a "one-time exception" to give us what we’d booked in the first place. He was so rude that it made the stay hard to enjoy, and I won’t do business here again.
