I had a comfortable room, slept well, and really liked the interior design. The food was great too, especially the huge chunks of breakfast potatoes, along with sausage and a spot of coffee. I checked in for the first time on the 28th and left March 1st. Shima, DJ, and Antonio, one of the servers at The Mercat, were all very nice. She and DJ were friendly and helpful, and they enjoyed chatting with me. John, one of the restaurant managers, said he and Antonio would take good care of me. I was truly satisfied and would definitely come back.

The coffee shop shuts 45 minutes before its posted closing time, and the room fridges are the cheapest little throwaways. The security staff give guests mean looks. On the morning of March 1st, the doorman just watched my senior parents struggle down the stairs with their belongings and didn't help. I've had better service and hospitality at a Holiday Inn. The concierge woman showed no people skills or willingness to help, and did nothing to make guests feel welcome. This place seems to be hanging on because of its history, but whatever charm it once had is long gone. I'd pick Palmer House over this hotel any day.

The Blackstone's location on Michigan Ave in the South Loop was great, away from the bustle but close to the museums and with easy access to the el. I enjoyed the well-staffed 1600 Club, which I assume is like the usual Marriott MClubs, and its lovely, tasty spread. The workout room was good, although some machines needed maintenance. These "autograph" properties aren't for everyone. They're mostly older historic buildings, and the Blackstone doesn't hide its age. I was a little concerned by the old-looking lobby furniture and slightly tattered carpets when I arrived, but my room was lovely, spacious, and had a roomy bathroom. There were some calcium stains in the shower that could easily be removed, but they didn't affect its use.

Lucy made our weekend. From a lovely room upgrade to great tips on what to see and where to go, she helped make it a perfect trip. I can't say enough about her and hope a manager sees this so she gets the recognition, raise, or promotion she deserves. She turned us into two newly engaged, lifelong customers. Even when I'm not in Chicago, Marriott Bonvoy will be my first hotel search. Thanks so much, Lucy. I hope the other Marriott hotels can live up to the standard you set. The rooms were amazing, the workers were amazing, everything was outstanding.

We had a lovely winter staycation. The room was clean and comfortable, and the service was friendly and efficient. We really liked the hotel's style, from the tasteful rooms to the lobby's cozy, classic, sophisticated feel. The elevators look cool, and though I expected a long wait, one always arrived within a minute. We asked for a lake view and highly recommend it. You can hear the trains along the lakefront a little, but it wasn't too bad. We had Sunday brunch at the restaurant and the food was delicious. We'd definitely come again.
