I stayed in an eight-person women’s dorm and had a great time. The room was kept pretty well, and the staff were friendly. The shower had some issues with the temperature settings and drained slowly, though it wasn’t a major problem. This was my first hostel where more of the guests seemed close to my age, which I really liked. The neighborhood stays lively, so people may come and go late, but most seemed to respect the quiet-entry policy. It’s the second Chicago hostel I’ve tried, and I’d likely come back.

The staff, from the front desk to the cleaners, were helpful and accommodating, and we found the kitchen and common space clean and easy to use. Our room was spacious and clean, with a closet that let us get our luggage out of the way. The tubs had some water left sitting in a dip at the front, which wasn’t great but didn’t seem gross. Bathrooms got a line around 8-10 in the morning, so plan for a wait.

The room was simple but clean and had what we needed, and check-in and check-out were easy. The location is great, and the staff were friendly. The trouble was noise: our room was beside the lobby, so we could hear conversations, including at 1am and 6am. It wasn’t especially rowdy, but I wish quiet hours were enforced more, or that the front desk asked people to talk in their rooms or outside. There could also be a wait for the bathroom, especially in the morning when people lined up for showers.

My first hostel stay was here, and it went well. The area gets noisy, and our room was tiny, but it was all we needed. The upstairs common room is cool, and having breakfast included there was nice. The blankets were great, even if a bit small. Fun look to the place, and it feels homey. The staff were kind too.

A really unusual hotel, and I had a great stay. There’s no elevator, just three narrow stairways leading up four floors, and the rooms have bunk beds. The bathrooms are separate, which was fine. There’s an open kitchen, plus a pool table, arcade machine, and other things to do. It’s right beside a corner store. I’d definitely recommend it.
