My daughter had seen the Viceroy Hotel on TikTok and was immediately taken with it, so we booked the penthouse for her 15th birthday girls’ night and extra rooms for the family. The stay made the occasion memorable, and the rooms and views were stunning. The service was a big part of that: staff dealt with questions and concerns quickly and professionally, and they handled a few small hiccups well. We’re planning to return and would recommend the Viceroy Hotel for an upscale Chicago stay. There were a couple of things to keep in mind. We couldn’t find a microwave, and outside food in rooms seemed restricted, though we did have food catered to the room. At breakfast, my husband’s meal was overcooked and fibers got onto the brioche toast. The staff responded right away and removed the charge. Our key cards also deactivated briefly, but that was fixed promptly. We noticed the bill was initially about $700 above the original quote. That included a duplicate deposit charge and a parking fee that we later learned was included with the room. The charges were corrected, but guests may want to check their bill closely.

The location and view were worth the high price, and the room itself was nice, but several details bothered me. I expected a tub, though what I got was a soaking tub, and it wasn’t clean enough for my liking. The pillows had a distinct smell. The connecting room made me uncomfortable, especially with a large mirror right beside the connecting door. I was traveling solo, and it didn’t really sink in until later that night, so I checked out six hours early. There were lots of alcoholic drinks in the room that I didn’t need, but robes and slippers had to be requested. I would’ve thought they came with the room price. I also forgot to use the $50 restaurant and lounge credit I received at check-in. It’s close to everything, and I would stay again, but I’d make sure the room met my expectations first. I’d rate it 7/10.

We chose this place for a staycation, right across from Rush Street, and it’s become my new favorite Chicago hotel. The whole property has a modern feel, with small touches like a bowl of Starburst at check-in. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help. Breakfast room service was excellent, with generous portions of gourmet-style food at a reasonable price. The rooms are gorgeous too.

The rooftop bar has fantastic views, the morning brunch was superb, and the location worked perfectly for us. Staff were exceptionally professional and friendly. Special thanks to Harrison, Margaret, Alison, and Dani. There were plenty of other helpful people whose names I didn’t catch.

We stayed four nights this week, and the hotel and rooms were beautifully decorated. The location was great, the amenities were lovely, and I especially appreciated how dog friendly they are. The staff were all incredibly kind, especially Camron, who checked us in. My only real letdown was the restaurant. It looks beautiful, but the food wasn’t very tasty and took a long time to come out.
