The Villa Toscana

We had a great little vacation in Chicago and hope to come back this summer. This is an affordable hostel in a historic house in Northalsted, so don’t expect a hotel room. We booked three nights over Thanksgiving, and it was easy and painless, including check-in. The room was just right, warm, quiet, and comfortable, with a surprisingly huge bathroom. The coffee was good and the neighbors were friendly. Hydrate is right across the street, Roscoe’s and Sidetrack are down the road, and the Red Line at Addison is about a half-mile walk. For $2.50 you can get around the whole city.

Breakfast is self-serve and there’s plenty of it. Villa Tuscana is a welcoming, quirky little B&B, and each room has its own character. Some rooms have private bathrooms and some don’t. The location is great. Street-facing rooms can get a bit noisy, but they provide white noise machines. I’m a big fan!

Breakfast was my favorite part, especially the waffle mix waiting in the fridge to put in the waffle maker. The kitchen is beautiful, and the room was cozy and clean. We heard a little noise from upstairs, but it wasn’t too bad. The place is only a couple of blocks from the train station. I loved it, and if I go back to Chicago, I’d choose this place again and again. Thanks for everything! ❤️

I was comfortable here, and the location has lots to see, do, and eat nearby. Communication and service were great, and self check-in came with clear, detailed instructions. I came back the next week and had the same good experience. The second time I stayed in a different room with a shared bathroom, but that was no problem. I’ve already recommended the place to friends for future trips and will definitely return.
