Americas Best Value Inn Chico

We came on a packed, busy weekend, and the rooms could've been a bit cleaner. Still, the staff were amazing, friendly, and helpful, including housekeeping. They seemed to genuinely care about their guests.

On the first night, the room smelled odd, and I kept banging my foot on the metal bed frame. I sprayed perfume and tried to avoid it. The next day we were out visiting family. When we got back, I found a dead roach in the bed under the sheets, two more dead on the floor, and four live ones in the drawers. I called the front desk at 10pm, but the person there said the manager was asleep and there was nothing they could do then. They said they'd follow up, but the manager never did. The next day the desk only offered to move us, so I canceled the remaining three days and stayed across the way, spending more money. On Monday I had to walk back and ask for a refund in person. Manager Ryan was rude and insensitive, refused to return the money for the nights I didn't stay, called me a scammer who just needed money, and accused me of putting roaches in the room. He wouldn't give me the management team's number and even called the police when I came only to get my refund. I felt he was racist toward me. Management should review the video and fire him. He's not suited to manage. If you're reading this, try heritage or quality inn instead, with their excellent management, friendly staff, and better rooms.

The shower didn't work, and the place was very dirty, with cigarette smoke in the air and stains on the curtains, bedding, and linen. Patrick and Sebastien at the front desk were kind and apologetic, but they couldn't move me or fix anything. Management didn't respond.

Don't come here. The room was overpriced and filthy. The beds were old, the pillowcases dirty, and there were no towels. I had to sweep the floor myself, like someone had walked in wearing filthy shoes and left it that way. I've got photos.
