This used to be a fairly nice motel, but after the fires left thousands homeless, the city bought it to house homeless residents. It's right beside the city park where many homeless people gather. Most aren't a problem, but some people around there aren't ones you'd want to be near, unless you're looking to buy or sell drugs or risk having your things stolen. I didn't realize they were still renting rooms. If you're booking through a third party, know the situation, and I'd stay away.

We'd prepaid through Hotels.com, but when we arrived late at night, the motel was a dump and the only room they had was already occupied. The manager said nothing and left the clerk to deal with us. We had to find and pay for another room. OYO, the company that owns this derelict motel, has refused to refund us. Very unhappy with how the whole thing went.

I booked on August 5th and arrived at 9:20 p.m., having already paid through Expedia. No one was at the front desk, and after repeatedly calling both Expedia and the hotel for three hours, I booked another hotel across town. I asked for a refund on August 5th. On August 19th, after speaking with them for the third time, I was told they still had to review whether to refund me. I went to the hotel that day, and they called Expedia themselves to request the refund. Expedia still said it needed a review and could take 7 to 14 days from August 19th. I don't understand what they're reviewing when the hotel called them directly and I was there. Why are they holding my money?

I booked at 7 PM through Expedia, then noticed the confirmation said check-in was at 7 PM unless I heard otherwise. That was confusing, so I emailed the property and got replies, some automated. The motel is supposedly with OYO, though the emails called it North Medford Motel or something like that. I'd spoken with them by email and tried calling, so I thought I had it sorted. I knew someone lived on site and could check me in, but when I arrived at 1 AM there was no one at the desk. I called both numbers about checking in late. When it seemed I wasn't going to get in, I spoke loudly with a representative. People who looked like management, though I couldn't be sure, came over and said this happened all the time, Expedia had been told they were no longer taking bookings, and I could cancel online. I tried to work it out with them. Expedia said they might be able to use what I'd paid and find a partner to get me a room if they could reach the motel, but they couldn't contact anyone there. The property's third-party booking agent also seemed badly misinformed about the policies. It was Halloween, and with nowhere to stay and no other hotel money, I was left roaming Medford. I had a job interview at 3 PM the next day. It went well, and I'm fine now, but I don't want anyone else dealing with this. With Covid going on, customer service seems to be getting worse, and it's hard to trust either these third-party booking sites or hotels that don't answer the phone while offering cheaper online rates. I'm not saying it was a scam, but it feels like one when Expedia takes bookings and charges people despite there being no room, then says no refunds under any circumstances, even when it's their own issue. I'll own my mistakes, but this was a rip-off. If you're looking for a cheap stay, pick somewhere with better procedures, like Motel 6 if you have to.

After buying a room online, I arrived at 5pm and found the doors locked. The number on the door went unanswered, though the lobby lights were on and office hours were supposed to run until 11pm. I waited an hour, then left. I can't say if it's a scam, but the place is a dump, with actual garbage piled around the office. I'd avoid it and wouldn't want anyone else making the same mistake.
