Trade Winds Motel

The owners clearly take pride in keeping this classic motel up. Its simple, clean rooms have a charm that brought back memories of cross-country trips from the 1940s to the 1960s. I was glad to find such a gem in a small town after a long drive, and it was a great value. I wasn’t disappointed.

The pillows were awful, yellowed like people had been drooling on them for years. I had to go buy my own, so please replace them. The room was basic and had no coffee maker, though it was fairly clean and priced well. The man at the desk was very nice and accommodating, and brought us a fan because the AC wasn’t enough for me.

The room was spacious and extremely clean, and the price was reasonable. We arrived late, but they still had a room available. I woke the owner to rent it, and he was still extremely kind. Would definitely recommend this place.

The woman at the counter kept berating us as we left, which was very rude. When we asked about rooms, she asked whether we wanted smoking or nonsmoking. My daughter was surprised they had smoking rooms, since most places don’t, and the woman replied that if we were smokers she wouldn’t give us a room. Why offer or ask, then? Before that, a man had seen us enter the lobby and walked away without acknowledging us. Just as we were about to leave, the woman came to the counter and asked, “What do you want?”
