Red Roof Inn Chipley

Kaitlin at the front desk greeted me so warmly and sincerely that it brightened my day. I was driving a long way home and had walked in to book a room. It's spacious and very clean, and my bulldog and I are both pleased.

We spent 4 months at this Red Roof while we figured out our life, and I have absolutely zero regrets. Caitlin and Mike, who run it, treated my husband and me with real respect. They're LGBT-friendly, the cleaning staff are friendly too, and it's extremely dog-friendly. Walmart, Dollar Tree, and lots of food options are within walking distance.

I asked for a non-smoking room but was given a smoking room. The explanation was that there was a $100 deposit and they check the guest's bank account to see if the funds are available. I was also told only one room was available and they still had to make the beds, then asked if I could wait. They mentioned the A/C unit leaked water and that I'd need towels at its base. The first room was in bad shape: the floors hadn't been cleaned, the toilet was full of shit and didn't work, and the box springs on both beds were badly stained. I fixed the toilet so it would flush. There was no bathroom ceiling vent fan, the mirrors were filthy, and the coffee pot had no filter basket. Black mold on the bathroom ceiling had been painted over. Pictures just couldn't show enough. I'd give that room 1.5 - 2 stars. I stayed again the next day. The new room looked nice for the most part, but there was dog hair all over the beds. When I came back that morning after leaving before housekeeping, the room still hadn't been cleaned, the bed wasn't made, and there were no replacement towels or clean linens. I had to ask the front desk about service. They brought towels, washcloths, coffee cups, coffee, and a new trash bag, but I took my own trash out. I'd rate the second room 3 - 3.5 stars. The staff were respectful, but the rooms were disgusting. The floor was sticky and hadn't been cleaned properly, and I got lice from the bed. I think the cleaning needs to be done differently, though it's a motel, so what can you really expect?
