Fairfield Inn by Marriott Christiansburg

Everyone was absolutely polite and friendly, and I loved the clean, cozy feel of the Fairfield Inn. I was disappointed they wouldn't share even one complimentary bottle of water. As a driver, I don't go home for three weeks or more. This was my second night there this week, and they still declined one free bottle, saying it was $3 a bottle.

When we checked out, we asked for a receipt, but the staff couldn't log in because they had chosen to update their phone during working hours. That was as bad as the rest of the service. Our room hadn't been cleaned, even though we hadn't left any note or message asking them to skip it. When I brought it up at the front desk, the response was, “What do you want me to do about it?” No apology, nothing. I asked for fresh towels because ours had been on the floor all day. The worker sighed and huffed as if getting some for us was a nuisance. The staff were incredibly rude, and we won't stay here again.

The rooms are pretty good, and the hotel is tucked away from the main road, though noisy neighbors might be an issue. Breakfast was the standout: a great oatmeal bar with lots of toppings, the usual eggs, both scrambled and hard-boiled, and even quiches. I'd visit again.

We were right off the interstate, and our room looked out toward the back, where there was a walking trail. The stairs were clean and easy to use. Check-in and checkout were quick and uncomplicated, and we had a very pleasant stay. I'd gladly return if we're in the area. The welcome from the staff was friendly from the moment we arrived. The lobby was bright, clean, and well kept. Our room had everything we needed for a relaxing night, with cozy beds and a quiet, peaceful feel. Breakfast was another highlight, with plenty of choice, fresh hot food, and a clean dining area that was well stocked.
