Suburban Studios Christiansburg - Blacksburg

The staff were kind and helpful both at night and in the morning, and the room was spacious, mostly clean, and seemed recently renovated. We liked having room to relax after a long day, and breakfast was included, though we didn't get to try it. The location is convenient for people passing through, and for the low price and overall condition, four stars felt fair. Finding the place was frustrating, since it was listed under another hotel name even though it was really the Quality Inn. We arrived late after a long drive and weren't sure where to go. We were on the ground floor and could hear some noise from above. The sheets had been washed, but they looked old and had faint stains.

The renovated rooms were still filthy, and ours smelled strongly of smoke. The smoke detector had been pulled off the wall, and the sheets were dirty. We paid about $300 a night because it was parents weekend, so that part was on us. This is definitely not a 5-star hotel. I would've left after the first night if I could've found another vacancy.

My husband and I have stayed here a couple of times when we're in town, instead of staying with family. It's peaceful, and the rooms are amazing, very clean, and everything is new. We also stayed at the other hotel attached to this one, and it was just as clean and nice. The staff are lovely and try to help or fix any problems as best they can. Ashley, the hotel manager, is one of the sweetest people I've met in a long time. She goes out of her way to make you feel at home. If they got rid of her, I probably wouldn't come back. I also want to recognize Judy, I believe that's her name, who handles breakfast. She's so nice and even helps carry breakfast back to your room if you need a hand. Ashley and Judy go above and beyond and deserve a raise. Thanks for everything, y'all are the best. This is one of Christiansburg's finest hotels, and I hope others give it a try.

We had two rooms booked for months for my son's graduation at VT. A little over a month before it, they told us they were overbooked and canceled both reservations. They didn't offer to help find another place, just told me to call Choice Hotels. They could have worked with Choice Hotels, which they're a member of, to rebook us. The manager even said, "I am only the manager, the owner would have to do this." What good is a manager who won't step up and do what's right for customers? The rate we'd booked was much lower than the other options in the area, and this whole thing felt like a breach of contract. I think anyone affected should consider appropriate legal action, such as filing a warrant in debt at the Montgomery General District Court. I can't imagine a more unethical business. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!
