Sun Retreats Ocala Orange Lake

As an RV technician who works at parks all over Florida, I can say the 200-year-old trees everywhere make the place feel safe. There’s plenty to discover, and renting a golf cart for a couple of weeks would help you get around and find everything. I could write a book about fishing for 13 lb bass off Orange Lake. With so many events each day, people quickly feel like family, and they won’t leave you sitting around feeling down.

The property was beautiful and really clean, and everyone was friendly. We held a paint party in the awesome clubhouse. Looking forward to our next event.

There are golf carts available to rent, and the lake has airboats as well as duck hunting during the season. The restaurant and gym are nice, though the camping spots are close together.

I can only speak to the resort area. I visited a friend and didn't rent a unit or go to the clubhouse or restaurant. I arrived at dusk, when everyone had their lights and Christmas lights on. When I left around 9:10 p.m., it was incredibly dark. There are no streetlights, road markings, or reflectors, so backing out of my friend's RV spot, I couldn't tell when I was out of the parking space and in the street. The road is so narrow it barely fits an RV, and there's no shoulder, so you can end up in someone's yard. I backed into a woman's bumper. Thankfully no one was hurt, but better lighting would have helped me see that I was in the road. Even the headlights on my car weren't enough. During the day, I could see they were building a huge water park slide, but the night before I hadn't seen it because it was so dark. Along the main road into the park, every other tree or so has a light at its base shining up the tree instead of onto the road. Go during the day and leave before dark, or bring some powerful flashlights to hang out the windows so you can see where you're going.
