OYO Hotel Sweetwater TN West

Our room was right by the pool, but it stayed quiet, and we liked the room. The pool is green by design. The place is a little run down, but the staff were friendly and cared about our comfort. Our dog liked it too, and we'd stay again. They also have a chair to help people with disabilities get in and out of the pool.

The indoor pool looked like a tropical island and was really inviting, though the heater was out and the water was very cold. The staff, and I think the owner, seemed ready to make it up to us. Our room was clean and neat, the beds were comfortable, and the service was outstanding. A friendly woman at the desk greeted us and handed over the keys. I was surprised by how beautiful the motel was after reading some of the reviews. The lobby sitting area is lovely too. I heard they have new owners, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do next. We'll be back very soon.

I booked through booking.com for my daughter's birthday swim party with friends, but we left after checking in at 3:00 pm and checking out at 5:30. When we opened the room, hot air hit us, and it took turning on the AC and leaving for the pool in hopes it would cool down. The bedspread had stains that looked like blood, flies were all over the bed, and the strong chemical smell drove us out right away. When we returned, nothing had improved, so we left without using the shower or towels. After I complained and checked out, the front clerk called the next day to say they were charging me another $20.00 for stained towels we never touched. I said I'd contact the motel 6 corporate office and the BBB if it wasn't refunded. After I complained to corporate, they told me the $20.00 would be refunded. This place doesn't necessarily represent every motel 6, but someone needs to inspect it.

The front desk woman was friendly and helpful, which is why this gets 2 stars instead of 1. On our way back from Florida, we paid $80 for four people. The first room seemed fine until we pulled back the covers and found hair and other stuff on both beds. It looked like the sheets hadn't been changed. We were moved to a second room with a broken light and a toilet seat so loose it didn't feel safe. The third room was better, so we stayed, but after the first two rooms we weren't comfortable sleeping there. The covered pool area leaked badly, leaving the carpets soaked and smelling moldy. I won't stay again.
