Key West Inn - Clanton

Work brought me to this hotel twice, first from Sunday, August 17 through Friday, August 22, 2025, then from Sunday, September 14 through Thursday, September 25, 2025. The difference between the stays was night and day. The first time I was in a non-smoking room, 220 I think; the second was smoking room 209. That first visit was better than I expected for the price. I had daily room service, clean towels and linens that seemed brand new, and no complaints. An employee was friendly and helpful when I asked about a package I'd had delivered. I'd have recommended the place after that five-star stay. The second stay was a one-star mess. Roaches were in the room on the first night. I arrived late Sunday and asked to move, but was told it wasn't possible. I was angry, but had to be up at 4:30 a.m., so I put it off. They may have sprayed while I was out, since I saw none when I returned Monday afternoon, but I spotted one in the bathroom Thursday morning as I checked out. They were back within three days. The staff were no help when I tried to change rooms. Towels looked so gross I'd use them to clean a car or dry a dog, not after a shower, and the sheets looked ready to be thrown out. Neighbors who seemed to know each other went back and forth between their rooms all night on two different nights. The location near several food options is the only good thing about the place. If you have to stay, choose a non-smoking room, since it seems to make a huge difference. I'd avoid the hotel if possible.
