Quality Inn Clare

The room was clean and fine for an overnight stop on our way home after our 43rd anniversary trip. I was disappointed that the hot tub was out of order. The desk clerk seemed distracted and rushed off to put on lip gloss.

This was our third stay, and the last two have been disappointing. The first time, everything was great. On our second visit we switched rooms three times because there was no hot water in the bathroom or sink. This time, the water still wasn't hot enough, the pool and hot tub weren't working, and when we came back from smoking outside one evening, the sliding door wouldn't open. My boyfriend had to pry it open. The front desk person was nowhere to be seen on the several times we went out, while a number of people were in the eating area. The lobby had no heat, and cold air carried down the hallway. That's not acceptable, especially in winter. Maintenance needs attention, particularly for the room price. It's sad because we liked our first stay, and the woman who has checked us in all three times is so nice. I told my boyfriend we'll choose a different hotel next time after these last two bad experiences.

We booked and prepaid a night for the pool and hot tub, bought three new bathing suits, and drove two hours each way, using a tank of gas. The pool was closed, so we spent the day in the room watching TV and playing phone games. I called Monday to speak with the manager and left my number. On Tuesday, an employee called to say they'd adjusted the bill by $25. Five business days later, it still hadn't been credited to my card, and the manager wouldn't speak with me. Our toilet also kept running. Don't go there.

The rooms were spacious and nice. Getting our things to and from the second floor took longer because there isn't an elevator. For the pool, you have to get towels from the front desk and return them when you're done; there aren't any kept in the pool area.
