Motel 6 Claremont, CA

I’ve stayed here plenty of times, and usually the staff are patient and professional with paying guests. The night shift young guy was very rude. When I asked about late checkout, he refused to help and told me to come back when his coworker arrived. He shouldn’t bring personal problems into work, and customer service training would help. He’s not suited for Motel 6.

I canceled my reservation and went somewhere else after the way I was treated. I’d booked a weekend, missed the first night, and asked whether I could still check in for the two days I’d paid for. The staff hurriedly said no, they were completely booked, and were very rude about it. After a long drive, I asked to use the restroom and was pointed to the Dennys next door. They acted like I’d interrupted their meal and couldn’t be bothered.

It works if you’re mainly here for the colleges, visiting your kid, and just need a shower, a bed, and nearby coffee from Starbucks, a minute away. If you need more, you might be disappointed. The next affordable place is 10 min by car. YMMV.

It’s an older motel, but it was clean and mostly quiet, and the staff were great. I dropped my wallet in the parking lot; a worker found it and called me. Everything was still there.
