Fairfield Inn by Marriott Clarksville

The common spaces were cozy and nicely decorated, and the staff were attentive and professional. Parking was easy to find and felt reasonably safe, though the side lots could use more lighting. The highway location was handy, even though we somehow drove past the turn. Our top-floor room was quiet, perhaps because there weren’t many other guests. The bed was comfortable and had plenty of pillows and blankets. It looked clean at first, but we noticed a stain that looked like blood on the sheer curtains, a wobbly toilet, mold by the shower door frame, and small tears in the wallpaper. The pool water was crystal clear and didn’t have the strong chlorine smell you get at many indoor pools. The humidifier in the pool room was broken, though, and the doors were propped open, so swimming in January felt chilly. In the fitness room, the TV didn’t work, and the treadmill and elliptical screens only got two channels, mostly sports. None of the programs on the equipment worked either. Filtered water was available there; it would’ve been nice to have some in the hallway too. The hall bathroom was spotless, but hooks on its doors would be useful. WiFi wasn’t free unless we gave up personal information, so we used our own data. There were no USB charging ports in the room, so bring a power adapter.
