Clatskanie River Inn

The breakfast is a real highlight, especially the egg casseroles, which are the best I’ve had at a motel. The coffee’s good too, surprisingly hard to find these days. Our rooms at River Inn were clean and quiet, and this was another great stay. Thanks! I hope removing the pool means a hot tub will take its place, and maybe they’ll add a TV to the breakfast room.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and great to deal with. We found a room here when every other place was full, and it was clean, though a little dated. The price felt a bit high for what we got. It’s about 45 minutes from Astoria. The parking lot entrance is oddly placed, and I drove past it the first time.

The deal with anytime fitness across the parking lot is a great bonus. It’s hard for a hotel gym to compete with a real one. For such a small town, I was surprised by how good the accommodations were. The rooms were clean with very few hiccups, the service was more flexible than I could reasonably expect, and the price was very good.

The morning staff were incredibly rude on my last visit, and the manager came out yelling at me over a breakfast plate I’d taken to my car beside the building. I was eating and letting my dogs out for their morning pee. I’ve done this every morning, and always brought the 25cent plate back inside when I was finished. I couldn’t believe how she spoke to me. I’d never seen her before. I told her she didn’t need to be so rude, but she kept screaming because the front desk woman had told her I fed my dog some food from the continental breakfast. It was a hard-boiled egg I hadn’t finished the day before. I said we stay there all the time and didn’t know why she was talking to me like that. She told me I wasn’t allowed to stay there anymore. It’s so sad. It’s the only motel in town, and we use it a lot. There was no reason for her to speak to me or anyone that way. My boyfriend is back in town, and now the only place to stay is in longview. Rude, RUDE, RUDE, the whole staff. I’ve stayed there 100+ times without ever having a problem. If I could give minus stars, I would. I was born and raised in clatskanie. When my boyfriend comes home from working in Alaska, we always get a room for a week or so with our 2 dogs. We’ve been doing this for years, and I love supporting small businesses. There had never been a problem before, and I really enjoyed staying there until this last visit.
