AC Hotel St. Louis Clayton

We had a special event planned for NYE, and the hotel and HighBar helped make the night feel special with some cool touches. The rooftop bar has a relaxed, intimate feel, with small tables, a fire pit, and a little bar in about 1500 sq ft. Our server, Brandon, was phenomenal and very accommodating. The food and drinks were good, though they ran out of some ingredients while we were there, which was understandable on NYE. I’d heard HighBar can be hard to book, so plan ahead. We had a positive stay and would return. My only real downside was that, without valet, parking is in a public garage around the corner. It’s a short walk, but the garage didn’t feel very inviting, and it isn’t maintained by the hotel.

After 232 nights at Marriotts over years of traveling every other week for work, this is the best Marriott experience I’ve had. The staff made me feel right at home, and I feel lucky I got to stay here and make genuine connections with them. I actually looked forward to seeing everyone every other week, especially Shy, she is the best. If you’re choosing among the hotels in Clayton, pick this one.

I was here on a work trip and enjoyed the water refill station on my floor. The hotel looked beautiful and my room was clean. My only complaint was the slow drainage. Water took a long time to go down the drain, and I wish the sink stopper lifted higher so it could drain better.

I rely on Marriot when I travel internationally, but neither of the two AC properties I used on this US trip lived up to what I expected. This was meant to be a new property, yet it already felt worn and overused, without the brand quality I associate with it. The room had very basic amenities and few tea and coffee options, so I had to go to a supermarket during my trip. Breakfast was another letdown: mediocre coffee, a buffet of processed food that had seen better days, and hardly anything fresh. It cost $18, and even with my $10 voucher I decided to skip it. At least the fridge worked, which was useful for keeping fresh food and drinks to start my day.
